We strongly believe that today's children have great potential to play a more active role in their communities. Our Thai Team has identified a set of Youth Leaders who have undergone intensive training to understand more about disasters, their impact and how to go about protecting themselves and their communities from future disasters. This group, under the guidance of our staff, has been given opportunities to conduct educational campaigns on disaster risk reduction in their communities so as to help raise awareness on this important issue. At the same time, this helps communities and society as a whole realize the importance of children's participation in the community and recognizes that they could play a supportive role in the community should the need arise. |
